Community Foundation CEOs: Connecting and Growing

(CEO's Only)

Dave Bennett, Mike Batchelor & Judy Sjostedt Atrium Rm - 132

Community Foundation CEOs have unique challenges and amazing opportunities. As connectors between our communities, staff, board, volunteers and donors, we face the challenge of maintaining meaningful relationships focused on issues that matter. Yet, how can we stay connected to one another as a field of professionals? How can we work together to support growth – both in personal professional development and by nurturing the field of community foundation CEOs nationally?

Incorporating Generative Leadership to Advance Your Board and Your Mission

(Board Chairs’ Exclusive)

Neel Hajra & Randy Maiers  Salon 1 - 100

Board members tend to focus on certain powerful processes that they believe shape their organizations, including mission setting and strategic planning. But these processes are shaped by another powerful process – that of generative thinking. Generative thinking drives all the other processes. It frames the problems that we solve, it determines what needs deciding before we make decisions, it suggests what’s worth a strategy before we develop a strategic plan. During this session, we’ll discuss how to identify the right opportunities for generative discussions, how to facilitate these discussions, and how to work with your Executive Director to help your board make the connection between these wide-ranging conversations and the impact your foundation can ultimately have. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they learn and practice their new skills.
